Book Signing & Talk: World War II Akron
Come out to grab a beer and a book! On Tuesday, April 2, author Tim Carroll will be here to sign copies of his recently (March 18) published book: World War II Akron. Tim is an Akron native and graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in history and a masters in education. Both of his grandfathers served in World War II. His interest in writing about the war began when he read his Grandfather Carroll’s war letters. He started writing about those personal letters and then expanded his interest to a long overlooked topic: Akron and Ohio's part in the war effort. Tim spent months researching WWII and tracking down rare photographs of Akron and Ohio's war and aviation history. He has possibly the best collection of such pictures to be published in recent years.
LIVE MUSIC - Jen and Anthony
For the first time at the Taproom, come welcome Jen and Anthony! Jen and Anthony is a new “Heart Of It All” duo from NE Ohio, specializing in Old-School Blues and Roots music. Pumping out the “old soul” of America on electric and acoustic guitars, upright bass, fiddle, and buttonbox with a mix of originals, classics, & traditional songs from Blues & Roots.
Strangled Darlings - Canton OH
Strangled Darlings cuts up the pattern for an indie band while squeezing a full band out of a duo. They left Portland, Oregon three years ago to live in a 20 foot RV and think about the Occupy Movement from the parking lot of Walmarts across much of America. From that comes a patchwork of images, sounds and restrung music that is actually original without being weird. Jess Anderly play bass & foot drums. George Veech plays mandolin. They are actively recording their fourth album from their new home in Bethel, Vermont.
